The Arne and Carlos knitting cruise was on a Hurtigruten ship cruising up the beautiful Norwegian coast. The ship served to take on cars and cargo, officially deliver mail to remove villages, and also served as a tourist ship for enjoying the spectacular views up the coast of Norway. When the ship was at a port for a few hours, we went on hiking and biking excursions.
This was a ‘mystery’ knitting cruise. We were given snippets of a pattern every few days, culminating into fabric that could be used for a cowl or become a pillow.
Breakfast and Lunch was in a large cafeteria. Dinner was sit-down with a fixed menu. While the dinner had no choices to pick from, the meal was delicious. The cafeteria had lots of fish and salmon each day, several bottles of cod liver oil, yogurt and fruit, Norwegian pastries, rice pudding, and more. I was so happy to eat kringle every day, whereas at home I maybe have kringle a few times a year.
Our group consists of knitters and spouses from Australia, Canada, Italy, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden, the UK and the USA.
